M&S has been one of most long-standing clients.  

When I first got in touch with M&S whilst researching The Green Consumer Guide and then the Supermarket Guide, in 1988 and 1989 respectively, they didn’t appear to be very interested in the environmental impacts of their business. That changed significantly when they produced Plan A – a really comprehensive strategy covering their environmental performance across the business.  What really impresses me about the approach they took – and continue to take – is that they’re very thorough in researching what is the best eco-option, rather than simply reacting to public perceptions.  

In 2002, I was asked by M&S to review all the issues relating to their food division, and make recommendations on what they should be doing. Since then, I’ve given a lot of advice chiefly on packaging and carrier bags. Here are some of my posts covering M&S.
